πŸ’œ pRETTy Awesome is Back for 2026!

October is Rett Syndrome Awareness Month, and this year Rett syndrome organizations from across Canada are once again joining forces to celebrate just how pRETTy Awesome individuals living with Rett syndrome truly are.

The 2026 pRETTy Awesome Campaign is a collaborative initiative involving the Manitoba Rett Syndrome Association, Rett Syndrome Society of British Columbia, Rett Syndrome Society of Alberta, Saskatchewan Rett Syndrome Association and Quebec Rett Syndrome Association, with sponsorship support from Acadia Pharmaceuticals.

Together, we are creating a national awareness campaign that celebrates the personalities, strengths and individuality of people living with Rett syndrome while helping more Canadians learn about Rett syndrome and the people behind the diagnosis.

What Is the pRETTy Awesome Campaign?

Rett syndrome can be complex, but the people living with it are so much more than a diagnosis.

They are funny, determined, adventurous, loving, strong, clever, mischievous, creative, brave β€” and so much more.

The pRETTy Awesome Campaign gives families a fun and meaningful way to celebrate those qualities during Rett Syndrome Awareness Month.

Families can request special pRETTy Awesome pins, along with adjective pins that help describe the amazing person in their lives.

Wear them proudly. Share them with grandparents, siblings, friends, teachers, therapists, support workers and others in your community.

Most importantly, use them to start conversations about Rett syndrome.

Every pin is a small reminder to see the person before the diagnosis.

πŸ’œ How to Participate in British Columbia

The Rett Syndrome Society of British Columbia will be coordinating the campaign for families and supporters throughout BC.

Participants can request up to 20 pins:

  • 18 pRETTy Awesome pins
  • 2 adjective pins

RSSBC will prepare and mail campaign packages directly to participants.

More Than Just Pins

The pRETTy Awesome Campaign reaches far beyond our Rett syndrome families.

Campaign materials will also be shared with MLAs, provincial leaders, physicians, diagnostic teams, therapists, educators and other professionals who play an important role in the lives of individuals with Rett syndrome.

By placing these materials in the hands of people throughout our communities, we hope to create more conversations, increase awareness and help more people recognize and understand Rett syndrome.

Sometimes awareness begins with something as simple as someone noticing a pin and asking:

β€œWhat does pRETTy Awesome mean?”

That one question creates an opportunity to talk about Rett syndrome β€” and, even more importantly, about the incredible person behind the diagnosis.

πŸ’œ Thank You to Acadia Pharmaceuticals

RSSBC is grateful to Acadia Pharmaceuticals for continuing to support the pRETTy Awesome Campaign for a third year.

Their ongoing sponsorship has helped support the production of the pRETTy Awesome pins and accompanying awareness materials distributed through participating provinces.

We truly appreciate Acadia Pharmaceuticals’ continued commitment to this initiative and their support in helping Canadian Rett syndrome organizations reach families, healthcare professionals, educators, community leaders and elected officials across the country.

Their support helps make it possible for this campaign to continue growing year after year.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ A Canadian Collaboration

One of the things that makes the pRETTy Awesome Campaign so special is the collaboration behind it.

Rett syndrome organizations across Canada are working together with one shared goal: to raise awareness while celebrating the people who make our Rett community so extraordinary.

Although each participating organization serves its own province and families, during Rett Syndrome Awareness Month we are coming together with one voice.

The more people who wear a pin, share a photo or start a conversation, the further that message can travel.

πŸ“Έ Show Us How pRETTy Awesome Your Community Is!

Throughout October, we would love to see the campaign come to life across British Columbia.

Wear your pins.

Share them with family, friends, teachers and support teams.

Take photos.

Post them on social media.

Start conversations.

Tell someone new about Rett syndrome.

Most importantly, tell them about the person behind the diagnosis.

Tag RSSBC in your photos and posts so we can share them and celebrate with you.
